Of all the plants to be inspired by…

You’d think that I’d be interested in drawing something from my garden like mint or chives or maybe cucumber with all those curly cues. Back in October 2021, I suddenly (and almost urgently? like a drop everything moment) got inspiration from my blossoming eggplant…plant… from my pandemic garden. Turns out this fruiting bush provides lots of playful energy that I couldn’t help but capture. I started messing around with sketching it with my favorite pink pencil, then created a repeating pattern by cleaning it up and cutting it (this is a great resource for a how-to) and finally scanned it and took it digital.
