A pregnant portrait

I’ve been really enjoying doing large-ish scale portraits recently and I knew I had to do one of my sister, pregnant by the pool when the wisteria was in full bloom. My new approach to doing portraits is to not be too precious. Let it all figure itself out and don’t take it too seriously. That is, until I laid the almost finished drawing (on thin butcher paper might I add) on the bed and my dog jumped up on it, wrinkling most of it. Live and learn, I guess.

The next chapter in this project is framing which I am very excited to see how it turns out. Hopefully the dog-inflicted wrinkles will get smoothed out in the process… stay tuned!
